The café- pâtisserie Cavour 1880 in Bergamo Alta belongs to the chain of the ‘Locali Storici d’Italia’. It has always been a meeting place for Bergamo poets gathered in the ancient "Duchy of Pontida" thanks to Bergamo Alta's location around the Teatro Sociale, a historic point of reference for artists such as Tieri, Lionello, De Filippo and Maestro Gavazzeni, to mention only the most recent. A café with a Viennese atmosphere, with ancient frescoes and friezes from the end of the nineteenth century, whose buffet is dominated by the tradition of Da Vittorio's Master Confectioners. Owned by the Cerea family since 1994, it underwent a conservative renovation in 2019. The work involved both the 19th-century vaults and the furnishings and boiserie, with the aim of preserving and restoring the fine upholstery to its former glory. Green marble from the Alps was used for the counter, petit granit for the floors and stone from Sarnico, breccia stone from Stazzema for the tables, larch windows and fixtures, mahogany handrails, cedar furniture, hand-decorated parchment wallpaper with floral motifs in relief. The pre-existing structure was also integrated with modern materials (compatible and harmonious in the whole) such as fibreglass and involved local businesses and craftsmen, showing the desire to enhance local professionalism and excellence. Thanks to its new look, the Café - Pâtisserie Cavour 1880 is also the ideal place to organise private events.
Enrico Cerea's true, almost secret passion since childhood has always been sweets, a love he shares with both his brother Bobo and Simone Finazzi, Pastry Chef at Da Vittorio and Pasticceria Cavour 1880. The subject of exciting elaborations and limitless experimentation, the pastry shop has become a real point of reference both for the creation of new trends and for the reinterpretation of great classic desserts. Every day croissants, biscuits and viennoiseries are available for unforgettable breakfasts. Superb pastries, dozens of different cakes and mignons, spoon desserts, homemade ice cream and Da Vittorio specialities, to give as a gift and to treat yourself. Up to order, the team of chef pâtissiers also creates customised cakes and desserts.
Pasticceria Cavour 1880 is not only a triumph of sweets: delicious snacks, buffets - also made to order - for business lunches, hot dishes, piadinas, salads, pizza and tasty aperitifs enrich the offer, making it accessible throughout the day. During the spring, on weekends, don't miss the live paccherata at lunchtime and the Sunday brunch; in the winter, the creativity of the kitchen team allows it to organise fun theme evenings, such as cocktail dinners, appointments dedicated to the best long drinks and blends, whose variations are also the subject of an intriguing food pairing.
